To change to another size the standard LATEX commands

\baselineskip and the \strutbox as well as the
script and scriptscript sizes for
the new text size. But once again they will not change other
font characteristics. So, for example, it doesn't matter whether one
writes
\large\tt or \tt\large, the same font will be selected.
